"Evaluation of the Office of Managed Care of the Los Angeles Department of Health Services" by HMA's Pat Terrell and Terry Conway, MD - 4/12/2010
Health Management Associates (HMA) was retained by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in December of 2009 to:
- Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current operation of the Office of Managed Care (OMC) to evaluate its readiness to participate in the expanded managed care opportunities potentially available under pending health care program regulations and requirements;
- Evaluate the extent to which the County may uniquely benefit from health care reform opportunities by continuing its operation under County governance;
- Evaluate the ability of the Department of Health Service (DHS) to retain its patient base as well as serve in an expanded capacity as a medical home and compete with the private sector for new managed care enrollment; and
- Provide written analyses and recommendations regarding these areas.
