DeEtta West is a seasoned National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) professional with experience guiding clients through the entire accreditation survey process. She is passionate about collaboration and efficiency and wants health plans to succeed by improving their quality of health care through achieving accreditation.

Prior to joining HMA, DeEtta was an accreditation lead at Humana. In this role, she was the subject matter expert on NCQA requirements and helped internal stakeholders maintain accreditation for the company’s commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lines of business. She provided consulting, guidance, training, and tools to acquisition staff and assisted two state Medicaid markets achieve high scores on NCQA’s Multicultural Healthcare Distinction, now Health Equity Accreditation.

DeEtta is a contracted administrative NCQA surveyor. She conducts accreditation/certification surveys for health plans (HPs); credentialing verification organizations (CVOs); credentialing (CR) and utilization management (UM) organizations; multicultural healthcare distinction (MHC); health equity (HE); health information products (HIP) and wellness and health promotion (WHP) organizations. She conducts gap analysis and provides findings and recommendations for improvement and reviews organizations’ policies and procedures, UM/CR files, materials, and reporting.

DeEtta has held various roles during her 21 years in the healthcare sector. She spent a decade in the accreditation department of NCQA, serving as accreditation manager and senior accreditation manager. She provided support for the end-to-end survey process, conducted accreditation and certification surveys, led and mentored a team of corporate account managers and collaborated with other NCQA business units for resolution of survey issues. She also served as liaison, advisor, and corporate client advocate to ensure client issue resolution and an effortless customer experience.

DeEtta’s previous roles include project coordinator/manager with Oxford Health Plans and regulatory compliance project manager and accreditation manager with OrthoNet LLC.
DeEtta earned a Master of Science in management/human resources from the University of Maryland Global Campus (formerly UMUC) and a Bachelor of Science in finance from St. John’s University in New York. She is also a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certified professional.

When DeEtta is not working, she enjoys exploring her creative side through crafting and entering her states’ annual state fair home-craft competitions, where she has won first and second place ribbons in categories ranging from baking and candy making to door décor, jewelry, nature crafts and quilling.
