Devon Schechinger is a collaborative leader with a strong interest in behavioral health, the drivers of health and health literacy, and public health policy. She provides intelligence to clients through strategic research, analysis, and the facilitation of in-depth interviews, focus groups, and stakeholder engagements.

Prior to joining HMA, Devon served as a legislative and policy analyst for California State Senator Bob Hertzberg. In this role, she conducted both qualitative and quantitative research; created policy reports; planned and executed constituent meetings, including a virtual youth town hall; and co-authored reports, briefs, memos, and technical assistance documents.

Devon has more than 10 years of experience in the nonprofit field through roles in education and program management. She regularly collaborated with community stakeholders to design and implement programs supporting underserved populations and at-risk youth. Her work also involved training hundreds of volunteers to help students of color in an after-school STEM education program and facilitating leadership training workshops for academically underserved students.

Devon earned her master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Los Angeles, Luskin School of Public Affairs, and her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
