Specializing in publicly financed healthcare research and analysis, Julia Scully keeps HMA Investment Services and HMA Information Services clients empowered and ahead of the trends. She is resourceful, digging deep to fully inform client decision making.
Her findings are comprehensive, concise and on-point, revealing real-time insights. Recent projects include a comprehensive regulatory, reimbursement and risk analysis for a private equity client, resulting in the successful acquisition of a multi-state substance use disorder provider operating in the Medicaid market. With the market shifting toward value-based payments, Julia has also evaluated historical fee-for-service arrangements and emerging accountable care financing models that impact the transition for providers.
Julia has a way with words, turning volumes of data and information into actionable strategy. Her specialties include unpacking hospital and provider data and analyzing demographic and utilization trends. Julia also contributes to the daily and weekly HMA Roundup, an e-newsletter that tracks developments in state-sponsored healthcare.
Julia joined HMA from the Marwood Group, where she executed healthcare sector legislative and regulatory due diligence for private equity and lender clients. She also consulted with corporate healthcare clients on long-term growth strategy, providing competitive market analysis and sizing to assess opportunities for expansion. Within just one year, she collaborated on more than 30 buy-side deals spanning hospital care, pharmaceuticals, MRIs, drug testing, pain management, wound care, non-emergency and emergency ambulance transport, dentistry, dermatology, personal care, and behavioral health.
Julia graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in English and intensive studies in finance, accounting and business management.
When not at work, Julia can be found running along NYC’s rivers and exploring new art exhibits.
