An outcome-driven leader, Kim Milstien has robust experience in hospital and health system management. In her previous roles, she excelled at strategic and operational planning; employee, physician, and community engagement; cultivating robust and innovative growth; program development; and regulatory readiness.

Before joining HMA, Kim served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital, as well as deputy director of Ventura County Health Care Agency. While working in these capacities, she oversaw full spectrum acute care in two locations, trauma, family medicine residents, and inpatient psychiatric care. She also worked within a broad continuum of safety net agency clinics, providers, and a licensed health plan.

As president and CEO of Simi Valley Hospital and long-time champion with Adventist Health, she led efforts to provide acute and outpatient services, as well as the evolution to be more adept at serving the needs of community members, patients, and providers. She led physical and programmatic expansions, improved performance of the hospital within the health system, and oversaw various business development and strategic planning efforts.

Across her career, her work in team development resulted in organizational success in many areas, including employee and community engagement, physician recruitment, engagement, and alignment, and strong Quality/Performance Improvement structures. In addition, she has driven many areas of growth including new hospital development, and the launch of clinical programs such as full cardiac and stroke programs, mental health services, pediatric intensive care, palliative care, and an addiction medicine fellowship.

Her executive experience also includes various leadership roles with Glendale Adventists Medical Center and Adventist Health.

Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial psychology from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Zapara School of Business at La Sierra University.
