Marlana Thieler is a leader when it comes to implementing innovative projects and programs in the healthcare and insurance industries. Her operational experience comes from both the public and private sectors.
In her former role consulting for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Marlana was a driver of quality programs applying effective and efficient solutions in the Pennsylvania Medicaid program. As the lead project manager, Marlana equipped programs with key operational solutions for radiology management; electronic prior authorization; provider enrollment; fraud, waste, and abuse detection and prevention; and intense medical case management, among others. Marlana has a comprehensive portfolio of strategic planning and project support experience including procurement, grant application and reporting, collaboration with key stakeholders, management of contracts and vendors, and challenging budgets and resources.
Marlana’s demonstrated success with parallel programs for Pennsylvania Medicaid afforded her many opportunities to collaborate on projects with managed care organizations, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department’s Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other state Medicaid programs.
With Marlana’s key project stewardship, Pennsylvania Medicaid was awarded accolades from CMS for Best Practices in Provider Enrollment, nominated by CMS staff to compete in the NASA Provider Enrollment Innovator Challenge, recognized as a lead innovator for the Access Plus Disease Management Program, and achieved the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare’s Secretary’s Excellence In Service Award for the Medical Assistance Health Information Technology Initiative.
Prior to her position at Pennsylvania Medicaid, Marlana served on teams that helped transform both JPMorgan Chase Bank and Capital BlueCross into independent organizations through operational recommendations and strategic budget initiatives.
Marlana received her bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College where she studied business information systems and mathematics, concentrating in database management systems and actuarial science.
Marlana hails from the great Steel City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She now resides on a farmette in Wellsville, Pennsylvania with her husband and 33 chickens.
