A skilled researcher with an emphasis on program implementation, policy evaluation, and data analysis, Nicky Meyyazhagan joins HMA’s New York City office as a research assistant.
Experienced in designing data collection instruments and quantitative data analysis, Nicky Meyyazhagan joins HMA most recently from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where she served as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) policy fellow in the Office of the Director. Nicky evaluated policies related to reproductive health, as well as maternal and infant health through literature reviews and data analyses. She assessed access to women’s health services, developed performance measures for contraceptive services, and analyzed the impact of state expansions on family planning, pregnancy, and preventative health services.
Prior to her work at the CDC, Nicky was a research coordinator at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Taussig Cancer Institute, focusing on regulatory guidance and data management for gastrointestinal and phase I clinical trials. She monitored the implementation of clinical trials, ensuring adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) research protocol requirements by collaborating with pharmaceutical sponsors and the research team to plan, conduct, and evaluate research progress.
While a graduate student at the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) at Emory University, she assisted with a Ryan Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) Program project in collaboration with Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital and the Emory University School of Medicine. Nicky also conducted multiple secondary cross-sectional analyses using the Lot-Quality Assurance Sampling Method through epidemiological modeling at CARE India as part of her thesis.
Nicky earned her Master of Public Health in global health with a focus in public nutrition and a certificate in maternal and child health from RSPH at Emory University. Nicky also earned a master’s degree in bioethics with a focus on reproductive ethics, and a bachelor’s degree in international studies and Spanish from Case Western Reserve University.
Nicky enjoys traveling, photography, exploring the NYC food scene with her husband, and hiking with their dog, Terabyte.
