Housing Options

Housing Options: Finding healthier places to call home.

Safe, supportive, affordable housing is an essential building block of every community. But it doesn’t just happen. Matching the needs of a population to the housing options in a given area can be a complex task that requires input from a variety of stakeholders. That’s why HMACS has dedicated resources and expertise to helping communities provide better housing options, particularly for populations that are often underserved in the areas of health and housing.

Whether it’s finding and creating age-friendly communities for the elderly or ensuring that populations like the LGBT community or individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are adequately served, we put resources on the ground to make healthy and supportive housing happen. Our housing resources include:

  • Performing needs assessments that compare the housing stock in a given area to current and projected need
  • Conducting research on how housing issues in a given community impact healthcare delivery for specific populations
  • Developing housing plans for traditional housing, supported housing and respite care
