Matt Roan

Matt Roan brings a valuable perspective having worked for the past 15 years on issues impacting healthcare stakeholders in the public and commercial spheres.

Prior to joining HMA, Matt held multiple positions at McKesson Health Solutions. Matt was a Government Programs Manager tasked with providing programmatic leadership to the ACCESS Plus program, an award-winning Primary Care Case Management program serving Medicaid enrollees in 42 mostly rural counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Matt’s work contributed to consistent over-performance on program cost-savings targets, and recognition of ACCESS Plus by the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government’s Ash Institute as a top 15 finalist for their 2008 Innovations in American Government award.

Most recently Matt served as Senior Client Executive, managing McKesson’s business relationships with large and strategic health plans. Matt was accountable for ensuring that his clients derived maximum value from the tools they licensed from McKesson which included claims editing solutions, evidence-based clinical criteria and utilization management tools, and outsourced care management services. Matt’s clients included large regional Blues plans and national and regional Medicaid managed care plans. Matt’s work as a Senior Client Executive garnered him recognition as the McKesson President’s Club award winner in 2012 designating Matt as the top performer in the account management department.

Prior to his work at McKesson, Matt served in several state governmental positions. He was a Legislative Specialist for the Department of Public Welfare acting as the Department’s liaison to the Legislature on issues related to Medicaid and mental health and substance abuse issues. In this position, Matt led the legislative communications strategy on issues such as the state-impact of Medicare Part-D implementation, and the closure of Harrisburg State Hospital. He also contributed to legislation which became law dealing with nursing home and managed care assessments, and behavioral health advanced directives. Matt has also held Legislative Assistant positions with members of both the PA House of Representatives and the PA Senate.

Matt has a BA in International Politics from Penn State University where he also served as Student Body President from 2000-2001.

Gregory Nersessian

A former Wall Street equity analyst, Greg Nersessian leverages his training and experience in the financial services industry to lead HMA engagements with investment firms.

He manages all regulatory and reimbursement due diligence projects on behalf of HMA’s private equity clients. In this capacity, he has supported investment clients in over 300 transactions including deals involving home and community-based providers, behavioral health organizations, managed care entities, addiction treatment providers, information technology services vendors, physician practices, care management entities, post-acute providers and others. Mr. Nersessian also leads HMA’s due diligence support for private equity portfolio companies and other corporate clients.

In addition to his work with investment clients, he brings to bear his experience as a sell-side managed care analyst to support the firm’s payer clients across a variety of dimensions including strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions support. He also brings his research background to bear in publishing the HMA Weekly Roundup, a weekly newsletter that tracks key developments and emerging trends in state-sponsored healthcare programs.

Mr. Nersessian joined HMA after serving as a senior analyst in the equity research department at Credit Suisse where he was responsible for coverage of the managed care sector. In this capacity, he provided fundamental financial analysis on publicly traded managed care companies on behalf of the firm’s institutional investor clients. He was considered a thought leader among his peers, particularly in his research and analysis of the Medicaid managed care sector. Prior to Credit Suisse, he worked at Lehman Brothers with primary coverage responsibilities for the Medicaid managed care and disease management industries.

Mr. Nersessian earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. He has been a CFA Charterholder since 2005.

Suzanne Gallagher

Among her clients and colleagues, Suzanne Gallagher is known for producing insightful, thought-provoking research and strategic guidance on publicly funded and private healthcare policy, programs and financing for investors, corporations and providers. Her expertise includes merger due diligence, legislative and regulatory analysis, reimbursement and risk assessments, operational audits, and clinical and compliance evaluations.

Over the years, Suzanne has cultivated a collaborative network of governmental affairs consultants and industry experts nationwide. She continues to tap into these partnerships to provide real-time intelligence and rapid response to emerging issues for her clients today.

Suzanne is policy smart and politically savvy. She is a skilled communicator and collaborator who listens to her clients. A high productivity task manager and natural problem solver, Suzanne gets the job done on time and on budget.

For 10 years prior to joining HMA, Suzanne was a senior advisory services executive for the Marwood Group, a healthcare consulting firm where she helped build the advisory group and its product service offerings while leading more than 300 client engagements throughout her tenure. Her clients included investors, corporations and healthcare providers.

Suzanne also served in progressive leadership roles for a New York Medicaid managed care plan, covering Medicaid members across the boroughs of New York City and nearby Putnam County. She led new business strategic planning, managed a 140-member marketing team, executed all marketing campaigns, and developed collaborative community partnerships. She also introduced a progressive new mobile marketing strategy, increasing plan membership by 60 percent in two years. While supervising community health education, she developed and implemented preventative health programs, increasing well-child visits by 25 percent. As director of governmental relations, she was the primary liaison to government regulators and policymakers, she monitored state and federal legislation, and she spearheaded policy development and advocacy on issues impacting Medicaid managed care.

As director of governmental relations for the Greater New York Healthcare Facilities Association, a non-profit trade association representing the long-term care industry, she helped her clients navigate the complex New York State regulatory environment.

Suzanne earned her master’s degree in public administration with a focus on healthcare management and policy from New York University and her bachelor’s degree in political science from Kean University in New Jersey.

Suzanne is always cooking up new ideas. She is a whiz in the kitchen, co-founding a healthy meals cooking school in New Jersey and whipping up delicious dishes for her family and friends.
