Culturally competent care starts here.
Today, there are more resources available for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community than ever before. But obstacles and inequities remain, and they often have significant effects on quality of care and quality of life.
HMA Community Strategies is uniquely qualified to address these issues. Our experts have worked in the LGBT community for years to connect resources, address disparities and make sure that the LGBT community’s needs are met by providers, hospitals and health plans. Our LGBT resources include:
- Consulting on health inequities that disproportionately affect the LGBT population, including depression, anxiety and tobacco use
- Conducting research on the healthcare needs of the transgender population, including barriers to effective care and guidance on how to provide culturally competent care
- Providing housing resources for LGBT seniors that can identify housing disparities and work to find safe, supportive, age-appropriate solutions
