Kristine Malana Barrientos is a performance driven leader with a decade of experience in the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and Medicare Advantage, several in management roles.. Working in California’s markets, Kristine has a background in clinical and operations senior leadership as well as social work.
Before joining Health Management Associates, Kristine developed her PACE expertise working in various positions with ConcertoPACE and InnovAge, including center operations director and center manager respectively. In her career, Kristine has led one of the largest PACE centers in the country and supported the ramp-up of a start-up PACE center in Los Angeles County. She has participated in PACE service area expansion applications in two PACE markets along with contributing to aspects of the program development process from readiness review to go-live processes. In addition to operational and programmatic oversight, Kristine has worked on both state and federal audits, building productive relationships with regulators to successfully navigate the annual PACE audit process.
Kristine also has worked in social services, as social services supervisor for InnovAge as well as social worker and member services supervisor for AltaMed Health Services Corporation. In these roles, she gained experience in care coordination and case management in the managed care sector. Kristine successfully developed, implemented, and monitored the success of the evidence-based intervention care transitions. She also provided clinical supervision and guidance on complex cases and issues such as PACE program challenges, member social engagement and staff performance.
Kristine earned her Master of Social Work with an emphasis on community organizing, planning and administration from the University of Southern California. She also has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Mount St. Mary’s University and is conversationally proficient in Spanish and Tagalog.
When she’s not working, Kristine and her husband enjoy spending time with their two children and watching the Raiders, Dodgers and USC football.
