Ana Bueno is a bilingual senior consultant with over 20 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations and delivering strategic solutions that improve health outcomes and community well-being. She has dedicated her career to addressing social determinants of health, critical public health challenges, including poverty, homelessness, maternal and child health, the opioid crisis, substance use prevention, health disparities, and building capacity for organizations across various sectors. She is deeply committed to social change, focusing on empowering communities through education, access to resources, and sustainable solutions that promote long-term health improvements.
Before joining Health Management Associates (HMA), Ana served as chief executive officer (CEO) of Mission of Love Charities, Inc. (MOLC) in Capitol Heights, MD. There, she managed the organization’s operations, strategic planning, community outreach, and financial health. She successfully developed programs that increased the organization’s capacity to deliver critical services, while building strong partnerships and securing resources for sustainability. This included opening the only day center in Prince George’s County, serving individuals experiencing homelessness.
Prior to MOLC, Ana served as interim executive director at Healthy Howard, Inc., where she led the development and implementation of health programs including the Door to Healthcare which provided navigation services to apply for insurance coverage. She launched new initiatives, including opening a nonprofit family planning clinic in Silver Spring, Maryland and worked as director of finance and administration for Mobile Medical Care, Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operating nine facilities in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Ana has extensive experience in strategic planning, financial management, community engagement, program development and conducting needs assessments, ensuring that organizations, public agencies and communities can make informed, data-driven decisions to maximize their impact. Her ability to engage diverse stakeholders—from community members to local policymakers—has been central to building strong partnerships and ensuring the success of health and wellness programs. She has also demonstrated success in leading capacity-building efforts, such as community health worker (CHW) trainings, and advocating for underserved populations, focusing on improving health outcomes and advancing the well-being of underserved communities.
A skilled trainer and educator, Ana has developed and delivered comprehensive training programs for CHWs, contact tracers, outreach workers and community members, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a lasting difference in the communities they serve. Her training programs emphasize cultural competence, trauma-informed care, and practical strategies for addressing pressing health issues such as substance use, chronic disease prevention, maternal and child health and mental health support.
As a native Latina fluent in both English and Spanish, Ana leverages her bilingual abilities to effectively communicate with diverse populations, translate materials and offer interpreting support, ensuring that all individuals have access to vital health information and resources. Her inclusive, community-centered approach has earned the trust and respect of clients, colleagues, and partners alike. Passionate about graphic design, she uses her attention to detail and understanding of design principles to and creates visually compelling designs that convey ideas effectively.
Ana has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree management, both from the University of Maryland University College.
