Patrick Meadors, PhD, has more than 20 years of experience spanning behavioral health, healthcare administration, research, academic leadership, and clinical service delivery. A former licensed marriage and family therapist, he has deep expertise in operational oversight, strategic planning, integrated care, behavioral health transformation, and psycho-oncology across ambulatory, inpatient, emergency, and community-based settings.

At Health Management Associates, Patrick serves as project director for major state and federal behavioral health initiatives. This includes leading a team that serves as the administrative entity that provides oversight of statewide evidence-based practice implementation in California. The primary aim for the initiative is to increase access to high-quality evidence-based practices (EBPs) and improve outcomes across the system (county, provider, clients) through training and technical assistance, fidelity monitoring, assessment, and system performance monitoring.

Patrick has a proven ability to navigate complex organizational challenges, align diverse stakeholders, and communicate effectively with executive leadership, clinical teams, and large audiences. Additionally, in partnership with American Institutes of Research, he leads a team that provides implementation support, data collection/monitoring, and technical assistance for the Innovation in Behavioral Health Model (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation model) across eight states. He regularly conducts behavioral health environmental scans, stakeholder engagement, behavioral health trainings, and strategic planning efforts for hospitals, health systems, and regional partners.

Previously, Patrick served as director of Psycho-Oncology at Levine Cancer Institute, assistant professor of Medicine with Atrium Health, and adjunct professor at Wake Forest. In these roles, he led strategic growth, research, quality improvement, and psychosocial service delivery across a large multisite oncology enterprise.

Patrick earned his PhD in medical family therapy and his Master of Science in marriage and family therapy from East Carolina University. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
