Ryan O’Connor is a dynamic healthcare revenue cycle management executive with more than 15 years of consulting and operational leadership experience. By combining deep technical expertise with industry best practices, he has helped a broad range of clients to optimize operational workflows and enhance the patient financial experience – from billion-dollar health systems and Fortune 20 healthcare organizations to rural safety-net hospitals, physician groups, and medical equipment and pharmacy businesses. 

At Health Management Associates, Ryan leads enterprise-level transformation initiatives focused on cash acceleration, denial mitigation, and end-to-end revenue cycle optimization. His work has driven patient access and patient accounting revenue cycle improvements for healthcare entities with revenues ranging from $50 million to $5 billion, supported full-scale financial turnarounds culminating in strategic acquisition, and delivered front- and back-end solutions geared towards improved efficiency. He is known for aligning people, processes, and technology to produce real-time operational insight, faster decision-making, and durable financial outcomes. 

Throughout his career, Ryan has managed complex technology integrations, designed KPI-driven performance frameworks for boards and executive leadership, and implemented best-practice workflows spanning every step of the revenue cycle. His technical fluency across leading electronic medical records (EMRs), data analytics, and system integration enables him to translate operational strategy into scalable execution. 

Ryan has a Master of Science in physiology and biophysics from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Kenyon College.
