Loren Anthes is a healthcare strategy and policy expert with more than a decade of experience advancing Medicaid, managed care, and value-based care initiatives across the public and private sectors. His work spans market analysis, legislative development, and strategic planning, with a focus on improving quality, access, and system performance.

At Health Management Associates, Loren has led engagements at the intersection of managed care strategy, health policy, and community-based delivery. He has designed data-driven analyses of treatment-resistant depression to inform benefit development, facilitated strategic planning for one of the nation’s fastest-growing Medicaid managed care organizations, and built sustainability strategies for networks of community-based organizations. He has also directed a multi-managed care organization collaborative on population health investment, authored research on the impact of federal legislation on large delivery systems, and advised investment firms on healthcare business model viability.

Previously, Loren served as vice president of external affairs for a nationally recognized primary-care enablement company, where he advanced value-based care adoption among Federally Qualified Health Centers through public-private partnerships and state-based growth strategies. Earlier in his career, with the MetroHealth System, he successfully implemented Ohio’s 1115 Medicaid Demonstration Waiver, expanded harm reduction policies, and advanced financing reforms that improved care access and outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Loren has contributed to academic medicine as an author and lecturer with Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he developed health systems science curriculum in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic. He established Ohio’s Center for Medicaid Policy and co-founded a company focused on health record interoperability.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in healthcare business administration from Baldwin Wallace University, a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio University, and certifications in healthcare quality, research, and Lean Six Sigma.
