An expert in research, data analysis, and public health, Annika Jensen works to improve community health and resilience. At Health Management Associates (HMA), Annika supports the population health service line by conducting research, analyzing data, and developing actionable recommendations that help clients advance equitable access to care. She specializes in initiatives related to food insecurity, Food as Medicine, and women’s health.
Before joining HMA, Annika served in multiple research roles on high-impact projects funded by the National Science Foundation and the Washington State Department of Ecology, applying her expertise in research and data analysis. She conducted GIS-driven spatial analyses of healthcare and telehealth infrastructure across emergency scenarios, designed evidence-informed approaches to disaster preparedness, and synthesized data from stakeholder interviews and literature reviews to identify systemic barriers to care. Her work also included translating technical findings into actionable policy recommendations and delivering concise executive summaries for state agencies.
Annika leverages her analytic skills to further public health and community resilience through large-scale initiatives, like her work on statewide food rescue initiatives. Working with the Washington State Department of Ecology, she evaluated best practices in food waste reduction and created evidence-based policy recommendations to enhance food security for vulnerable populations.
Known for her strong collaboration and communication skills, Annika partners with interdisciplinary teams, including public health professionals, emergency management officials, and state agency partners. She has shared findings through written reports and presentations at prominent conferences, including the Pacific Sociological Association Conference and the Washington State Environmental Health Conference.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental public health with a minor in German studies from the University of Washington. Annika is proficient in R, ArcGIS Pro, GIS mapping, spatial analysis, and data visualization.
