Dr. Anya Rader Wallack is a distinguished leader with more than 30 years of experience in state-level health and human services administration. Her expertise includes government and regulatory relations, health policy development, analysis, implementation and evaluation, and support for legislative and regulatory functions.

Prior to joining HMA, Anya served as the administrative director of the Advance-RI Clinical Translational Research Program at Brown University’s School of Medicine; senior vice president for strategic communications at the University of Vermont Health Network; associate director of the Center for Evidence Synthesis in Health at Brown University’s School of Public Health; and the academic director of the Master of Science in Health Care Leadership program at Brown.

Anya also has extensive service in state government.  In Rhode Island, she served as acting secretary for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, director of HealthSource RI, Rhode Island’s health insurance marketplace, and Medicaid director. In Vermont, she led efforts to reform healthcare delivery and payment systems as the special assistant for Health Care Reform to two Governors. She also chaired the Green Mountain Care Board, Vermont’s health care regulatory body.

Anya is a respected voice in the field, with numerous publications in prestigious journals. She serves on several boards and committees, including OneCare Vermont, the Milbank Memorial Fund and the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review. Her contributions have been recognized with awards such as the Vermont Medical Society Founders Award and the Bi-State Primary Care Association Public Service Award.

Anya holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and both a master’s and doctorate in social policy from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. She is also a professor of the practice at Brown’s School of Public Health, where she contributes to the academic and practical understanding of health policy.
