A new online resource to bolster the ongoing response to the opioid crisis recently launched. The website, Addiction Free CA, hosts an interactive data dashboard, project resources, and treatment provider locator to support the California Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) Expansion Project.
The site will serve as a hub for providers, partners, and the public to identify data regarding treatment resources, infrastructure, and opioid response projects in California.
Health Management Associates (HMA) spearheaded development of the site to communicate the work being done under the State Treatment Response (STR) and State Opioid Response (SOR) grants. HMA is currently working with the California Department of Health Care Services on four MAT Expansion Projects aimed at increasing access to MAT, reducing unmet treatment needs, and reducing opioid overdose deaths through prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
“With so many projects and programs operating in the state, the Addiction Free CA web portal provides a powerful, one-of-a-kind data and information resource for the public, lawmakers, healthcare providers and all those working to fight addiction and opioid abuse in California,” said HMA Principal Dr. Corey Waller.
The site will be especially vital to the network of organizations carrying out efforts directly with those struggling with addiction and substance use disorders. In addition to project resources, Addiction Free CA hosts a Tableau-based data dashboard of county-level information, a rich collection of epidemiological data, a repository of publicly available educational materials for use by provider entities, and links that direct users to treatment locators for addiction treatment care.
The site was funded by federal dollars designed to expand access to MAT and was made possible, in part, by H79TI081686 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
