Brigit McDannell is a dedicated and accomplished health informatics specialist with a strong background in data analysis, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her education, experience, and leadership roles highlight her commitment to improving healthcare outcomes through informed decision-making and innovative solutions.

In her role at HMA, she creates analytics to monitor and assess the effects of specific programs, analyzes public datasets from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), responds to data requests from HMA databases for internal and external stakeholders, builds statistical models, and enhances digital quality measure precision.

Prior to joining HMA, Brigit was an informatics research specialist within the Learning Health Sciences Department at the University of Michigan Medical School. In this role, she applied comprehensive resource management strategies to build an extensive environmental literature scan on real-world data interoperability standards in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). She synthesized results from the environmental scan and key informant interviews to draft a summary report. This report evaluated the then-current use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) data as real-world evidence, aiming to inform future research and policy decisions related to regulatory matters. She established evidence of rigorous search methodologies, including descriptive statistical analysis on categorical data and metadata, to ensure the credibility of her findings.

During her tenure at Michigan Health Information Network (MIHIN), Brigit worked as a population health and quality intern, contributing to the development of comprehensive mapping data crosswalks and business rules to enhance interoperability standards. She conducted market research, literature reviews, and data analysis related to self-monitoring, analysis, and reporting technology (SMART) on fast healthcare interoperability resources (FHIR) and clinical data repositories. As a solution specialist intern, she created educational materials for MIHIN’s products.

Brigit also served as a quality control testing specialist at NeumoDx Molecular Inc. In this role, she performed quality assurance tests for diagnostic reagents, analyzing assay data, and ensuring compliance with standards. She was also a research technician at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where she led projects on therapeutic drug dependencies, conducted drug combination analyses, and supported postdoctoral research.

Brigit has a Master of Health Informatics from the University of Michigan School of Information, a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from Smith College and a Precision Health certificate from Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, yoga, dancing, watercolor painting, and volunteering.
