Experienced in both strategic and tactical aspects of product development, management, marketing, deployment, and operations, Daniel Dean is well versed in health information technology (HIT). His experience includes working with health plans, healthcare delivery systems, community organizations, healthcare providers, HIT vendors, publicly funded health plans, self-funded employers, and venture capital and private equity firms.
Daniel is likewise versed in government-sponsored health plan operations, enabling HIT, and related data exchange standards and format. As their first chief information officer, Daniel collaborated with Health Share of Oregon’s leadership team, board of directors, and founding and community partners to establish and operate the largest coordinated care organization (CCO) in the state of Oregon responsible for the administration of benefits for more than 330,000 Medicaid members residing in the Portland metropolitan area.
As chief strategy officer at Performance Health Technology (PH TECH), he bore responsibility for ensuring the successful implementation and use of PH TECH’s core platform, Community Integration Manager (CIM), among PH TECH and health plan clients’ staff as well as community providers engaged in servicing clients’ members. He also ensured all administrative and clinical functions outsourced to PH TECH staff complied with federal, state, and contractual rules, regulations, and requirements. He implemented an effective process of continuous improvement throughout the organization, which substantially increased efficiencies and quality of technology and outsourced services.
Before joining HMA, he served as chief strategy and compliance officer with Performance Health Technology, chief technology officer with Conversa Health, chief information officer with Health Share of Oregon, and vice president of product management and development with Press Ganey Associates and with Medicalogic/Medscape. He led high-performing teams through times of intense growth and corporate change with integrity, reliability, and depth of knowledge.
In addition, Daniel has experience leading product development, management, and marketing efforts for e-commerce, software, and other healthcare organizations and in optimizing processes governing clinical and administrative operations within Medicaid and Medicare Advantage health plans.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from California State University, Chico.
