Before joining Health Management Associates, Jarod worked with a healthcare consulting and education firm, advising on practice management, revenue cycle assessments, physician productivity and compensation, and strategic planning service lines. He engaged clients from initial contact and needs assessments, to developing project proposals and plans, to performing comprehensive assessments, to delivering findings and final reports.
Prior to his consulting work, Jarod held executive positions in operations and service line management for severalhealth systems. With Ochsner Health, he served as the senior executive leader of Ochsner Lafayette General’s cancer service line and partnered with hospitals across the Acadiana region. In that role, he oversaw the comprehensive regional cancer center’s expansion, adding hematology, radiation oncology, surgery, cancer imaging and infusion services. He streamlined the management and governance structure, centralized referral management and scheduling services, and implemented Epic, resulting in improved resource utilization, patient access and patient-to-referring-provider experiences.
As Ochsner Health’s assistant vice president of clinical operations, he performed physician enterprise operational assessments for outpatient clinics and clinical service lines of partnering or recently-merged health systems throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. He also carried out market assessments, operational assessments, and gap analyses for Ochsner Health system, developing strategic plans and facilitating staged implementations in collaboration with senior executives and operational leaders.
With Inova Health System, Jarod led the operational management and strategic growth of the orthopedic and neuroscience service lines at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, the flagship hospital. He achieved a 5 percent increase in the service lines’ case volume and net revenue, and initiated comprehensive fracture care liaison, bone health, and foot and ankle programs.
For Southern Illinois Healthcare, he provided administrative leadership for all specialty clinic operations and hospital-based physician service lines. Jarod assumed internal management of the emergency medicine service line and restructured the rapidly expanding hospital medicine service line. He implemented St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital’s first hospital medicine program, restructured the system’s neurosciences program, and established rural clinics to provide physician expertise for cancer service line development in the region.
