Joanna Powers is a research associate with a passion for behavioral health, child and maternal health, reproductive health, and evaluation. 

Prior to joining HMA, Joanna was the Communication and Marketing VISTA/contractor with Assuring Better Child Health and Development (ABCD) a state intermediary for HealthySteps®. With ABCD, she increased visibility and perceived value through strategic multi-faceted communication plans and increased stakeholder engagement through technical assistant work with HealthySteps®. 

During her time as a student at CU Anschutz, Joanna was an intern for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) where she collaborated with healthcare service providers, practices, and medical professionals directly. As a student, she was an intern at the Center of Global Health at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where she analyzed a mixed methods HIV survey among high-risk young, Zambian women. She assisted in a thematic review and focus group construction to promote and create access to resources to help mitigate HIV.    

Joanna is a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) where she received her Master of Public Health in child & maternal global health.
