Karen Chen is a public health professional with a focus on healthcare delivery to improve health equity and accessibility of resources for marginalized populations. She is skilled in project management, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, operations, and stakeholder engagement.  

Prior to joining HMA, Karen focused on optimizing efficiency and improving patient experience through workflow redesign and the development of educational materials. As an operations specialist at Lifespark, she redefined workflows to enhance efficiency and patient experience. She has also worked on redesigning systems at Massachusetts General Hospital, developing tools at American Indian Cancer Foundation, and analyzing plans for age-friendliness at Trellis. Karen has also served as a student consultant for community health organizations where she developed communication tools to foster stronger stakeholder relationships as well as strategies to enhance database organization. 

Her strong commitment to public health, combined with her software expertise such as Tableau, positions her to drive positive change and improve operations.  

Karen earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, where she also earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology. She has certifications in Quality and Safety from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
