Nichole Terry has over 14 years of experience successfully leading professional billing improvement processes in the healthcare industry. As a consultant at HMA, she works with the Revenue Cycle Team assessing and analyzing health systems’ revenue cycle data and processes to find gaps, decrease denials, and improve the collections and overall workflow of the revenue cycle process.

Prior to joining HMA, Nichole held several positions with Beaumont Health (now Corewell Health) which was Michigan’s largest health care system with eight hospitals, over 145 outpatient sites, and $4.7 billion in operating revenue. In her role as professional billing and collections manager, she managed collections and trained staff on system and procedural policies to drive collection improvement. She was the lead on multiple projects, including COVID-19 billing regulations set up, vendors, compliance, and legal projects and played a vital role in the creation of quality and performance guidelines for professional billing and developed tools.

In her previous billing and accounts receivable roles with Beaumont Health, Nicole identified system and billing issues and managed professional claims submitted to their clearing house, Change Health, including the printing of paper claims. She trained new employees and provided continuing education for current staff. Nichole also supported upper management by taking on special projects and managed payroll in Kronos.

Nichole’s experience includes entire revenue cycle operations, multi-specialty professional billing and claims process as well as following up and appealing denials for all payors. She prides herself on having collaborative and positive relationships with colleagues, staff, and the departments she works with.

Nichole earned an online medical billing and coding diploma from Penn Foster Career School and is currently in the process of completing a certified professional coder (CPC) course from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). She also has a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) designation from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
