As a transformational healthcare executive, Robert Minkin is committed to delivering solutions to healthcare organizations that achieve greater sustainability and market success. He leverages his expertise in identifying and integrating unique tools and practices to streamline operations, drive organizational efficiencies and enhance the patient experience.

Before joining Health Management Associates, Robert provided strategic, operational and turnaround advisory services to healthcare organizations. Working as a director with Force 10 Advisors, LLC, Robert spearheaded the strategic and operational turnaround assessment for an acute care hospital in financial distress by developing of a comprehensive business plan; return on investment analysis; strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis; and partner relationships. Robert also facilitated the selection of new owner and operators, which resulted in the hospital reopening.

With Cope Health Solutions, Inc., Robert focused on managing capitation pools and developing innovative healthcare models aligned with evolving industry trends and best practices. He identified and led strategic transitions of healthcare models to capitation-based systems to optimize operations and financial performance. Once transitioned, he developed and executed comprehensive strategies to help the organizations maximize the model’s benefits, ensuring sustainable growth and operational excellence as well as the plan’s continued viability.

In addition to capitation-based systems, Robert has led significant consultations– including implementations as needed by clients– in clinical co-management, clinical service line development, accountable care organization (ACO) coordination, and bundled payment readiness. As senior vice president of The Camden Group, Robert delivered high impact implementation services, expanding hospital efficiency, payers value, and service line utilization within single or multiple entities across health systems.

Prior to his consulting career, Robert had demonstrated organizational leadership success in transforming healthcare organizations. He served as market president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the O’Connor and St. Louise Regional Hospitals, steering two separately licensed acute care facilities and a medical foundation from a $35 million loss to break-even in less than two years. He accomplished this while improving service levels, clinical quality and patient services through dedicated collaboration with medical staff.

As president and CEO of Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital, Robert initiated the hospital’s first Cancer Institute, robotic surgery programs, and a cardiac and vascular institute co-managed with Denver’s largest group of community cardiologists. He has additional C-suite experience with healthcare organizations within integrated systems, for-profit systems and nonprofit systems.

Robert earned his Master of Business Administration from California State University, San Francisco, and his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sonoma. He is a Life Fellow of the American College of Hospital Executives.

In his personal life, Robert is a scratch golfer, a Corvette enthusiast and a master barbeque-er. He is a grandpa to four amazing humans and a doggie dad to two Jack Russell terriers.
